TeCK Fund Phase 3 Award
The TeCK Fund held its Selection Committee Meeting on July 12, 2023 at the Kent State College of Podiatry and selected CSU’s proposal for funding. The CSU submission was provided by Dr. Michael Gallagher, an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and titled Next Generation Passive Exoskeleton to assist Gait Function. This project will help validate an innovative and reliable medical device to assist individuals suffering from gait or mobility issues by providing up 50% more torque to the affected leg.
One key focus of the passive exoskeleton will be on individuals suffering from gait issues as a result of multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy or stroke. These individuals may incur problems walking and the passive exoskeleton will provide the necessary strength to correct the shortfall. |
