Dr. Peng Jiang, an assistant professor in the Department of Biological, Geological, and Environmental Sciences (BGES) and a member of the Center for Gene Regulation in Health and Disease (GRHD), has been awarded two new grants under a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) cooperative agreement that funds research in the fields of artificial intelligence, bioelectronics, and regenerative medicine to re-grow damaged muscle tissue. The $22 million cooperative agreement includes researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Northwestern University, Rice University, University of Vermont, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
