Dr. Chansu Yu will lead a team of CSU faculty in a National Science Foundation-funded project to develop and evaluate educational approaches that prepare engineering students and faculty to secure AI-integrated operational technology (OT) systems. Through hands-on learning, faculty professional development, and openly shared educational resources, the project will strengthen the nation's capacity to educate engineers capable of protecting critical infrastructure while expanding pathways for future STEM participation through teacher engagement and K–12 outreach.
Joining Dr. Yu to develop content across multiple engineering disciplines are co-PIs Dr. Marvin Thrash (Chemical and Biomedical Engineering), Dr. Wenbing Zhao (Electrical and Computer Engineering), Dr. Josiah Owusu-Danquah (Civil and Environmental Engineering), and Dr. Bogdan Kozul (Mechanical Engineering). Dr. Becky Odom-Bartel (School of Education and Counseling) will consult on the work and serve as program evaluator.
The three-year, $500,000 grant is titled “CyberAI Innovation: Securing the Engineering Enterprise through AI-integrated OT Cybersecurity Education (SEE-OT).”

CSU Launches Quantum Optimization and Simulation Micro-Credential Course Designed as the next step following Cleveland State University's Introduction to Quantum Computing, Quantum Optimization and Simulation moves beyond introductory quantum concepts to examine how quantum algorithms can be used to address complex optimization and simulation problems. Classes starts October 12, 2026 and will be held online. |

The deadline to do this has been updated to March 31, 2027 to give you time to recreate custom necessary Legacy Results-Reports. In parallel, you need to be familiar with Results Dashboards by October 31, 2026. If you use custom question pages or custom pages: Migrate your custom question and custom report pages by March 31, 2027. Please note that Legacy Results-Reports custom pages won’t transfer automatically. To preserve these report pages, they must be manually rebuilt as New Report Pages in a Results Dashboard. |

US Patent Filing On August 21, 2026, the patent application naming Dr. Prabaha Sikder, an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (MCE), titled Cranial Implant, and Associated Composition and Method was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and issued U.S. Patent Application No. 19/782,590. The novel cranial implant is composed of poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) and a proprietary bio-ceramic compound that are combined and processed into extruded filaments and are 3D printed to produce biocompatible patient specific cranial implants to allow for improved healing of brain surgeries. The novel implants can be printed to the specific scans of the patient and applied to numerous bone treatment procedures and implant components. |

Innovation Day 2026 marks the 3rd exhibition of leading-edge innovations emerging from Northeast Ohio’s innovation ecosystem. Organized jointly by Northeast Ohio’s public universities and sponsored by industry partners, this event celebrates the discoveries, technologies, and entrepreneurial collaborations driving the future of our region.
