Dr. Michael Horvath, an associate professor in the Department of Psychology; Dr. Joanne Goodell, a professor in the Department of Teacher Education; Dr. Cheryl Bracken, Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and a professor in the School of Communication; and Dr. Lili Dong, an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), are Co-Principal Investigators for a three-year National Science Foundation (NSF) grant. The $998,886 grant is titled, “Achieving Excellence and Equity through Academic Leadership Development.” In addition to the principal investigators, the project team includes Toufik Aidja, an associate lecturer in the Department of Engineering Technology.

The grant is funded through NSF’s Organizational Change for Gender Equity in STEM Academic Professions (ADVANCE) program. CSU’s team will provide professional development opportunities for department chairs to enhance their knowledge and the skills they need to foster gender equity. A new cohort of department chairs will join the project each January over the three-year grant period, with the research team providing ongoing support as chairs make plans to implement new practices.

Drs. Jackson, Harper, and Yu Will Build Technology Talent Pipeline

Dr. Debbie Jackson, a professor and Chair of the Department of Teacher Education, Dr. Chansu Yu, a professor in the Department of Computer Science (EECS), and Dr. Brian Harper, an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Foundations (C&F) have been funded by NSF to partner with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) to guide high school students into technology careers. The five-year, $1,999,998 award is funded through the Computer Science for All (CS4All) program and is titled, "The Cleveland Tech Talent Pipeline (CLE TTP)."

The CSU team will develop pathways for CMSD students interested in careers in computer science and information technology from high school to community college and/or four-year colleges and universities utilizing high school mathematics and computer science courses and summer internships with mathematics support for students in the CMSD. The program builds on CSU’s previous CS4All projects and other partnerships with CMSD.

Raise Your Visibility – Update Your Faculty Profile!

The Office of Research launched the Innovation Portal to increase the public's access to Cleveland State’s knowledge base and to foster new research collaborations and partnerships. The Ohio Department of Higher Education has also launched (and is revamping) a statewide portal, the Ohio Innovation Exchange (OIEx), to improve research collaborations among Ohio’s universities and increase university/industry partnerships.

Accurate information is critical to both of these systems, and to making sure collaborators can find you.

To get the most out of these resources, update (or create) your faculty profile by following these easy steps:

  1. Create or update information in your faculty profile by following this link
  2. Add relevant terms to the “Research Keywords” section of your faculty profile to help partners and funders find you through the Innovation Portal
  3. Add your picture to your profile page (replacing the stock image) by sending a photo to facultyprofile@csuohio.edu
